Say yes to the little plans.
The wide-opening top lets your foot go in from above. Press the flap closed and head out, with no laces to tie.
Same shoe. New setting. Close it snug at 8 AM, re-close it looser at 8 PM, and set each foot on its own. In a 2026 study, 93 of 107 women had a left foot and a right foot that didn't match.
Ukola opens wide and adjusts to each foot for simpler mornings.
The wide-opening top lets your foot go in from above. Press the flap closed and head out, with no laces to tie.
Set each flap separately to suit each foot. Loosen it later if you need more room over the instep.
One broad flap opens and closes with a press. It is easier to reach and handle than small laces or fiddly fasteners.
A closed heel and adjustable flap keep a proper shoe around your foot. Pair the everyday shape with the clothes you already love.
Lift the whole top, set the foot in from above, then fold it closed. There are no laces to undo before you start. If you’re helping someone get dressed, you can position the foot while the shoe is open.
See the mesh texture across the upper and around the toe. The enlarged detail shows the knit itself, so you can see what will sit over your foot. The same fabric continues across the broad flap, with stitched edging around the closure.
The back surrounds the heel, with a loop to hold while dressing. Hold the loop while guiding the foot into the open shoe. Then fold the top over and press the strap closed to finish getting dressed.
Reposition the flap and press it closed. Each foot gets its own setting. If the fit feels snug later in the day, peel the flap back and close it a little looser. You can change the room over your foot without tying any laces.
Textured tread sections run across the heel and forefoot. Grooves separate the front tread sections, with another section under the heel. The centre of the sole has a moulded pattern you can see clearly in this underside view.
The toe box width is fixed. The strap adjusts the room on top of the foot, not the length or the width.
What published research tells us about shoe shape and fit, alongside the details you can adjust with Ukola.

Ukola has a rounded forefoot, with space around the toes. Check that your toes can sit comfortably without pressing against the front or sides; the strap adjusts the room above your foot, while the sole length and toe-box width stay fixed.
What the research found
Branthwaite and colleagues compared three toe-box shapes in 27 healthy women. Shape affected pressure around the forefoot, and the effect varied by the area measured. The shoes tested were flat pumps.

Measure both feet and choose for the longer one, then check the width and toe room when trying the shoes on. Close each Ukola flap separately so a fuller foot and a slimmer foot can have different settings over the instep.
What the research found
López-López and colleagues assessed 73 older adults with Alzheimer’s disease. Fifty-one were wearing footwear that did not match their foot length or width, highlighting the importance of checking both measurements.

If the top feels snug later, peel the flap back and close it a little looser. You can change the room over each foot without changing shoe size or retying laces. The adjustment changes the fit; it does not prevent or treat swelling.
What the research found
Belczak and colleagues measured leg-volume changes in 70 hospital employees and observed swelling during the working day. This study measured legs, rather than pressure inside Ukola shoes.
These studies did not test Ukola. The illustrations explain design concepts and do not show clinical outcomes. Ukola is a comfort shoe, not a treatment for a medical condition.
